Josie Primiani, President and founder
of the Centre of Dreams and Hopes, shared her life experiences
as an English speaking single mother of a special needs child
in Montreal’s east-end.
After the birth of her daughter, Sabrina, she encountered the
difficult reality of the acute lack of services and support available
to her family at that point in time. Determined that her child
would not be institutionalized, she along with a group of other
mothers of special needs children, founded the East Foundation,
whose mandate was to provide services and support to special needs
children and their families. This organization, which has since
changed its name to Centre of Dreams and Hopes, is celebrating
its 16th Anniversary and currently offers a plethora of services
such as: Adult Education classes, Respite services, Occupational
Therapy and much more. Effective July 1st 2018, the CIUSSS du
Nord has agreed to establish and provide an onsite clinic specializing
in special needs patients. Josie stands as proof of what strong-willed
and determined mothers can accomplish.
The CLDV Women's Speaker Forum was honored to have hosted this
fabulous evening highlighting Ms. Primiani’s great accomplishments.
